Collected Works Bookstore is pleased to offer a 45-minute Story Time session every Wednesday and Thursday at 10.45am!

As attention spans vary, families are welcome to come and go as they wish--- we are delighted to host the group to its saturation point!  Occasionally, we break into song if the children need movement or a change of pace.  We also encourage dialogue as the stories are read and the audience's curiousity is piqued.

All children must be accompanied and upervised by an adult throughout the Story Time.  Please come enjoy our gatherings and follow up with a visit to our cafe; nothing goes ith Story Time like a good snack!

Weekly Story Time at Collected Works

Location: Collected Works Bookstore & Coffeehouse (877)988-4226/(505)988-4226

Collected Works Bookstore is pleased to offer a 45-minute Story Time session every Wednesday and Thursday at 10.45am!

Featured books cater to children aged 6 months to 5 years.  Most sessions begin with simple but engaging books for the youngest listeners, and build to longer picture books, rhyming poems, our newest favorites, and some classics for the "big kids".

Dr. Stanley M. Hordes, Lecture“The Sephardic Legacy in New Mexico: A History of the Crypto-Jews”

Location: Museum of Spanish Colonial Art 750 Camino Lejo on Museum HIll 505-982.2226

Dr. Stanley M. Hordes, Adjunct Research Professor at the Latin American and Iberian Institute of the University of New Mexico, received his B.A. in History from the University of Maryland in 1971, his M.A. in Latin American History from the University of New Mexico in 1973, and his Ph.D. from Tulane University in 1980. His doctoral dissertation, “The Crypto-Jewish Community of New Spain, 1620-1649: A Collective Biography,” was based on research conducted in the archives of Mexico and Spain, supported by a Fulbright dissertation fellowship. When Dr. Hordes assumed the position of New Mexico State Historian in 1981, he began to encounter Catholic and Protestant Hispanic New Mexicans whose families observed customs suggestive of a Jewish background. Dr. Hordes's book, To the End of the Earth: A History of the Crypto-Jews of New Mexico, was published by Columbia University Press in 2005 with a generous grant from the estate of Eva Feld. Click here for more information on Dr. Stanley M. Hordes. Lecture is free for members and $5 for non-members. (Memberships in the Spanish Colonial Arts Society begin at $40.) Lecture is held at the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art. Seating is limited, so please call 505-982-2226 to reserve.
