Santa Fe enjoys a semi-arid climate. Due to the 7000-ft elevation, summers are extremely mild with warm sunny days and cool breezy nights. Air conditioning is seldom necessary in Santa Fe (although this townhouse does include it). Nestled between the Sangre de Cristo Mountains (east) and the Jemez Mountains (west), winters are usually mild although nights are often below freezing. The low humidity and clear blue skies free from smog produces one of the most healthful environments in the US. Sun shines 300 days/yr.

As an Easterner, this climate is super, as the aridness produces much sunshine, and little humidity, which, at both hot and cold temperatures, makes one feel great!

The Institute of American Indian Arts has a straightforward and powerful mission: to empower creativity and leadership in Native arts and cultures through higher education, lifelong learning and outreach. To accomplish this, the college offers both two and four year degrees in creative writing, Indigenous liberal studies, museum studies, new media arts, and studio arts.

The only school in the state of New Mexico to have National Association of Schools of Art and Design accredidation, the Institute is open to anyone. One does not have to be enrolled in an American Indian tribe to attend.

From barrel racing to bareback and bull riding, this rodeo, held in late June, has it all and it's been roping the hearts of cowboys and rodeo fans since it began in 1949. Don't forget to wear your ten-gallon hats and custom cowboy boots. Aimed at families, there's also a Mutton Bustin' event for kids, a carnival midway, a parade and plenty of food and souvenirs.
