While music pulses through Santa Fe’s 400-year-old veins all year round, summer is the standout season to catch live music at a favorite venue, concert series, or dining spot, or to expand your musical horizons with something completely different. Summer is when laughter mingles with guitar strings in patios along Canyon Road, when drumbeats echo softly off the centuries-old buildings in the Plaza. Summer is when Santa Fe music is in full bloom.
There’s Music In The Hills
From its inception in 1957, the [blog_link url=" http://www.santafeopera.org/index.aspx" text="Santa Fe Opera" date="2016-06-21"] has been dedicated to showcasing music, drama and technical wizardry via treasured classics, revivals of neglected works, and remarkable premieres. The 2016 festival season presents a dazzling quintet of love stories spanning almost three centuries. Comic, tragic, contemplative and adventurous, they show every kind of romantic complication — and women taking charge of their destinies.
The opera’s acoustically and esthetically outstanding amphitheater is an ideal setting for staging memorable performances each summer. This year’s [blog_link url="http://www.santafeopera.org/tickets/index.aspx" text="productions" date="2016-06-21"] include La Fanciulla Del West, Don Giovanni, Romeo Et Juliette, Caprriccio and Vanessa.

Three hours before curtain time, the campus parking lot is transformed into a tailgating dinner party with breathtaking scenery and sunset views. Don’t worry about cooking—there are also several dining options onsite such as a tailgate picnic.
