New online marketplace offers single website designed to access products from many local independent retailers

Buying the work of a local artist, your favorite chile powder or a turquoise and silver necklace from Santa Fe businesses is now possible using one website and one transaction. Now there is a way to discover all that Santa Fe, New Mexico businesses have to offer without visiting multiple storefronts, websites and social media pages.  TOURISM Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce have partnered with Shop Where I Live to launch the website SantaFeMarketplace.com, a new platform for small businesses to come together to sell products and services online.

Created using CARES Act funds to aid small independent retailers across the city, the Santa Fe Marketplace website combines the passion for buying local and the ease of shopping online into one easy-to-use platform. Anyone, from local residents to visitors, can now shop Santa Fe’s local businesses, year-round, 24/7, from the comfort of their own homes.

“With all of the changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and the trend towards online commerce becoming essential to retail survival, we have recognized how important e-commerce readiness is for our community,” said Randy Randall, TOURISM Santa Fe Director.  “It's imperative that we give local consumers and visitors options to support our local businesses from the comfort of home.”

This website was built for Santa Fe small businesses to sell online together. Local businesses have the ability to create a shop in the platform to sell their products, services, gift cards, experiences and more. There's no commission fee on the website, so every dollar spent on the site goes back to the local business. The site currently has about 50 shops that have joined and most have listed available products into their virtual store.  It is free to the retail stores to participate and free to the consumer to shop for so many of the unique products only Santa Fe has to offer.

“We are excited to have this number of stores join so far to provide the necessary base to be attractive to consumers,” said Randall.  “We are hopeful more of our unique retail will continue to join and soon we will have hundreds of our stores offering product to people all over the country.”
