Santa Fe recognized as #2 City in the United States & #21 City in the World
Travel + Leisure announced the results of its annual World’s Best Awards on July 11, 2023, with Santa Fe securing the #2 spot on the 2023 list of readers’ “15 Favorite Cities in the United States 2023.” This placement is the highest ranking for any western U.S. destination again, making The City Different the best in the west according to readers of the magazine. Additionally, Santa Fe ranks #21 on the 2023 list of readers’ “25 Favorite Cities in the World.” Santa Fe is only one of two cities from the United States to be featured.
“When comparing the experience of Santa Fe to cities of all sizes, it is extraordinary to have Santa Fe voted the second best city destination in the entire country and the 21st best city destination in the world,” says Randy Randall, executive director of TOURISM Santa Fe. “We last made the top 25 in the world in 2019 and now we are back—something we are incredibly proud of. Congratulations to all of our tourism partners for this amazing honor!”
For the second year, Santa Fe resort Bishop’s Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection, appeared on the “15 Favorite Resorts in the West of 2023” list, this year ranking #8. In addition to the win for Bishop’s Lodge, Ten Thousand Waves Japanese Spa Resort took the #12 spot in the “15 Favorite Destination Spas for 2023” category.
An internationally beloved travel destination, Santa Fe has finished on the top 15 cities in the U.S. list for more than ten consecutive years, making it one of the most awarded cities and earning the designation as a World’s Best Awards Hall of Fame Honoree.
Furthermore, Santa Fe’s unique charm and international appeal is highlighted once again by returning to the “25 Favorite Cities in the World” list, after last appearing in 2019. This list consistently only highlights a small amount of U.S. cities every year.
For a second year, Travel + Leisure compiled a list of the “5 Best Hotels in Santa Fe,” highlighting The Inn of the Five Graces, La Fonda on the Plaza, Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe, Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, and Inn on the Alameda.
