April 24, 2018: Jazz, pop, mariachi, opera, country, classical, folk, Latin rock and moreǃ Tunes of all styles and genres will be drifting through the air throughout Santa Fe during the first ever Santa Fe Music Week, August 24 through September 3, 2018. Attendees will experience 10 days of live music from national headlining artists and local favorites in venues like the Santa Fe Opera, The Lensic Performing Arts Center, the Santa Fe Plaza bandstand, Santa Fe Railyard, restaurants and bars. Entertainment will be a combination of free and paid performances.

“It might get overshadowed from time-to-time by the galleries, museums, and historic sites, but music is an important aspect of Santa Fe’s amazing cultural tradition and makes a real contribution to the quality of life in our community,” said Mayor Alan Webber. “I think a week-long music celebration for locals and visitors to enjoy is long overdue.”

Santa Fe Music Week will include appearances by Grammy Award winning band, The Mavericks, a NDI-NM benefit, singer-songwriter Robert Earl Keen with Special Friends at the Santa Fe Opera, Tobias Rene a Zozobra performance and Bob Schneider, Austin’s six-time Musician of the Year at the Santa Fe Railyard Concert series. Free mariachi performances will bring culture to life weekdays on the Plaza from 2:30-3:30 p.m. and groups including Jimmy Gilmore & The Fireballs and Nosotros will take the stage on the plaza from 5-7 p.m. nightly. Additional Music Week highlights include The Platinum Music Awards, and The Aspen/Santa Fe Ballet will have a special music performance both at The Lensic.

“Santa Fe Music Week is the perfect showcase to experience Santa Fe’s yearlong foot thumping and hip swaying music scene, with 10 days that show off the outstanding musicians and fabulous live music venues in our city,” said Randy Randall, TOURISM Santa Fe Executive Director. “We envision music filling the air and people enjoying a favorite band or discovering a whole new genre.”

Additional performers, dates and ticket pricing information for Santa Fe Music Week will be available soon. Tune in for more to come…
