Ordering takeout from a favorite local restaurant, getting a hair cut at a local salon or purchasing a gift card from a local boutique - completing these activities will now not only support the Santa Fe economy but allow you to enter to win up to $200 in prizes in the new, free citywide Santa Fe Retail Bingo game. In the COVID-19 era Santa Fe local small businesses are depending on residents for support to stay in business and Santa Fe Retail Bingo encourages residents to have fun and think creatively on which local establishments to patronize each month.
“If you like to win prizes, and you like to play Bingo, and you love shopping at our local stores and shops, we’ve got the perfect game for you,” said City of Santa Fe Mayor Alan Webber. “Here’s a chance for all of us to have fun and support the local stores that make our city special. So grab a game card, put on a face mask, and let’s go play Santa Fe Retail Bingoǃ”
The first round of Retail Bingo will run through October 31, using the October game card. Full details on the program are found at www.santafe.org/bingo.
HOW THE GAME WORKS:
1. Players pick up a bingo game card at participating locations as well as Tourism Santa Fe plaza visitor center, the Chamber of Commerce office, public library locations or the Santa Fe New Mexican office.
2. There is no cost to participate and no purchase is necessary to play. Players visit participating retailers on the game card to receive a stamp. When row(s) are filled up and Bingo is earned the card is either dropped off or mailed in for a chance to win.
3. A monthly drawing will take place where 3 winners will win a pre-paid Visa giftcard worth $100 each plus $10 for each additional Bingo row earned on their game card – for a maximum of $200 per winner.
4. There will be new game cards each month that highlight different businesses. Game cards must be turned in by the 15th of the following month to be qualified for the drawing.
Any small local business can take part in the Santa Fe Retail Bingo as a participating location for free. Businesses participating will also have a chance to win free advertising from the game sponsors, The Santa Fe New Mexican and Hutton Broadcasting. To sign up your business, visit www.santafe.org/bingo and look for the ‘Add Your Business’ link. Each local business will need to pick up a stamp and storefront poster in order to be a valid business on the participating list.
Players must remember to practice social distancing, wear a mask, and adhere to COVID-safe practices while visiting local businesses and collecting stamps for Santa Fe Retail Bingo.
