SANTA FE'S JAMES BEARD AWARD WINNERS & NOMINEES

James Beard Foundation Logo

How is it that since the advent of the annual James Beard Foundation Awards in the early 1990s, chefs and restaurants from the small city of Santa Fe (population 85,000) have not only been nominated again and again, but WON many times?

It’s because Santa Fe is a multicultural community with a long history of creative exploration and an abiding passion for the culinary arts!

Over the centuries, an amalgam of influences, including Native American and Spanish has shaped Santa Fe’s gastronomy. From the “Three Sisters”—corn, beans, and squash—to the cherished chile pepper, Santa Fe’s culinary scene is an epicenter of cultural exploration in the Southwest, with hundreds of one-of-a-kind, locally owned, world-class restaurants, both uber-casual and fine, helmed by award-winning, passionate chefs.

Many visitors come for the chile but are delighted to find modern fusion options and diverse cuisine from around the globe, much of which is sourced through the producers who hail from a 100-mile radius at our year-round Santa Fe Farmers’ Market.
